Metal Earth Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird
The Blackbird was a long-range strategic reconnaissance aircraft developed by Lockheed and the secret development division Skunk Works. With a top speed of over Mach 3.5, it was among the fastest aircraft ever built. Remarkably, the aircraft was built largely of titanium, which was very advanced at the time. At maximum speed, the temperature of the exterior rose above 260 °C. In total, the Blackbird performed 3,551 missions without ever being shot down by enemy fire. Skunk Works is known for secretly developing advanced military aircraft, a tradition dating back to World War II.
